Summary of Health Care Law

On March 23rd, 2010, President Obama signed "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" into law.  IHPN has provided a summary to its members of this legislation that will impact nearly every aspect of health care.  Fifteen key areas of this law are outlined and focus on the impact to senior care.  The following key areas were reviewed, Medicaid Coverage, New Options for States to provide LTC services and support, Medicaid Rx Coverage Changes, New Payment and Care Delivery Models, Medicare Part D, Independent Medicare Advisory Board, Medication Therapy Management, PBM Transparency, Nursing Home Transparency and Improvement, Patient-Centered Outcomes Research, Enrollment Disclosures Requirements, Medicare and Medicaid Program Integrity, Additional Medicaid Program Integrity Provisions, Biosimilar Biological Products, and Long Term Care Insurance.  IHPN members can obtain a copy of the summary by sending a request to customerservice@ihpnetwork.com.  In-depth information on the new law can be found at http://dpc.senate.gov/dpcdoc-sen_health_care_bill.cfm.
